Celebrate Arts 2008
November 7-29, 2008. The event gallery at 910Arts presents an exhibition of two- and three-dimensional art entitled Celebrate Arts 2008. Sponsored by Sculptural Pursuit magazine, the exhibit will show a variety of styles and media in contemporary fine art, the exhibition is curated by ArtistsRegister.com member Kathleen Sherman, who makes sculptural constructions from organic materials such as gourds and found objects; Nancy DeCamillis, a writer, photographer and stone sculptor, who photographs plant forms and architectural elements; and John Ostlund, a stone sculptor who is influenced by folk art, ethnic cultures and Renaissance figures. Applications for the 2009 Denali National Park Artist-in-Residence Program are now being accepted. The Denali Artist-in-Residence program, established in 2001, has grown to include three artists per year who stay in the East Fork Cabin for 10-day residency periods during the summer. Art Match: COCC Culinary Institute Plaza - Bend, OR
Art in Public Places, Inc. (AiPP) on behalf of a public art initiative for the City of Bend, Oregon known as ArtMatch, seeks to commission a permanent large scale work of art for the Cacade Culinary Institute (CCI) on the Central Oregon Community College (COCC) campus located at the intersection of Mt. Artists Enclave at I-Park
I-Park announces its ninth season hosting The Artists Enclave. Artists residencies, self-directed/project oriented, will be offered from May through November 2009, with possible off-season sessions in April and December. Most sessions are four weeks in duration. Residencies will be offered to visual (including digital) artists, music composers, environmental artists, landscape and garden designers, creative writers and architects. Work samples will be evaluated through a competitive, juried process. There is a $25 application processing fee required and artists are responsible for their own transportation to and from the area. They also provide for their own food and work materials. The facility is otherwise offered at no cost to accepted artists. I-Park is a 450-acre natural woodland retreat in rural East Haddam, Connecticut. Accommodations include comfortable private living quarters in an 1850 s era farmhouse, shared bathroom facilities and a private studio on the grounds. An electric kiln, music equipment, wireless internet and library facilities are provided. International applicants welcome. To defray the cost of travel, three $1,000 grants will be offered in 2009 to international artists whose work is held in particularly high regard by the selection committees (details on the website). 4th Avenue Spring Street Fair
The mission of the 4th Avenue Spring Street Fair is to provide a community arts event, free to the public, with the highest quality visual and musical arts. Our juried arts and craft fair is designed to attract a diverse variety of quality hand made art and fine craft selected by qualified jurors to promote artists and their work as the focal point of the festival. Gulf-South Regional Contemporary Art Exhibition
BECA gallery presents the 2nd Annual Gulf South Regional Contemporary Art Exhibition from January 3-February 28, 2009. This competition for a group exhibition is open to all visual artists without representation in New Orleans residing in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida and working in 2-D and 3-D mediums. Florida's Art in State Buildings Program announces a new public art project at the University of North Florida. The College of Education & Human Services has a budget of $40,000 and the art selection committee is open to commissioning site-specific work and/or purchasing existing artwork. Seattle City Hall Gallery Exhibitions

Tennis Center - St. Petersburg, FL
Artists are invited to submit applications for exterior public art for the St. Petersburg Tennis Center at Bartlett Park. The Center is both a historic landmark in the sports history of St. Petersburg and a vibrant, active sports facility that serves children and adults. A new clubhouse with a wrap-around covered porch/viewing area will be built on the site of the original WPA era clubhouse. The motto of the center is Proud of Our Past Dedicated to Our Future. The Project Committee seeks art that will relate to the tennis mission of the facility, and is appealing to young people. Art may also help to interpret the history of the tennis center, particularly its Walk of Champions on the wrap-around porch which will display the names of over 50 tennis players who have played matches at the center throughout its history. Artsites - Tri-Lakes, CO
Artsites is a year-long outdoor sculpture-on-loan exhibit displayed in the Tri-Lakes area of Colorado. Tri-Lakes is the name given to a region north of Colorado Springs encompassing the municipalities of Monument and Palmer Lake as well as unincorporated El Paso County. and is home to more than 50,000 people. RiverSpan Sculpture Exhibition and Sale
Located on the deck of The Purple People Bridge, spanning the Ohio River between Newport, Kentucky and Cincinnati, Ohio. RiverSpan is solely dedicated to the promotion and sale of fine art sculpture and thereby develop an annual revenue stream for the continuing maintenance and safe operational expenses of the Purple People Bridge through contributions to the not-for-profit, Newport-Southbank Bridge Company, a 501 (C) 3 corporation, based in Newport, Kentucky. Every third weekend in June, the Purple People Bridge serves as the venue for as many as 150 sculptors, juried from an international pool of applicants. RiverSpan's goal is to offer three-dimensional art to the buying public in an exciting, entertaining and eventful fashion. The entire bridge deck will be under tent, In the case of rain or unbearable heat with artists arrayed across the bridge span. Scolarships - myartspace.com
Artwork now being accepted online for scholarship competition sponsored by myartspace.com. Artists must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate art program and be a member of myartspace.com, an online community for the contemporary art world. The Honolulu Academy of Arts annual juried exhibition is one of the longest running juried exhibitions in the country, showcasing the quality and diversity of Hawaii's artists. Sculpture Without Walls - Cannon Beach, OR
The City of Cannon Beach, Oregon announces it s third Sculpture Without Walls outdoor art exhibit, a public art program. Northwest artists are invited to submit digital images representing up to three sculptures appropriate for yearlong outdoor display. Five sculptures will be placed in prominent locations throughout Cannon Beach for one year, from April 2009 to April 2010. One sculpture, the winner of the Peoples Choice Award, will be purchased for up to $15,000 and become a permanent part of the City s public art collection. Artist-in-Residence program at Acadia National Park
The Artist-In-Residence Program offers professional writers, composers, and all visual and performing artists the opportunity to pursue their particular art form while surrounded by the inspiring landscape of the park. In the spring and fall, the park provides housing to participants for two-week to four-week periods. No additional stipend is available. In return, participating artists are asked to donate to the park collection a piece of work representative of their style and their stay. These creative works will be displayed on a rotating schedule or shared with the public through other appropriate means during the upcoming seasons. Artists are also asked to participate in one public program per week of their residency such as demonstrations, talks, exploratory hikes, or performances. In the fall, artists work with fourth-eigth grade students. Programs can be tailored to your medium, interests, and experiences, and only consume a few hours of your stay. Public Art Installation - Washington, DC
The DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities (DCCAH), in collaboration with the Department of Transportation (DDOT) and the Adams Morgan community, seek an artist or artist team to design, create and install a permanent outdoor installation at the corner of 18th Street and Columbia Road, NW, Washington, DC. The objective of this project is to create a distinctive art piece that communicates the history and current character of the surrounding community and commercial district. System Control Center - Austin, TX
The City of Austin Art in Public Places (AIPP) program of the Cultural Arts Division seeks to commission an artist or artist team to design and create artwork for Austin Energy’s new System Control Center (SCC) which oversees the city’s electrical grid throughout Austin's neighborhoods. It is desired that this artist establish a strong, overarching concept for artwork that will be integrated into the site to enhance the experience of the more than 300 people who will work there. In addition, since this is a secure facility which is not open to the general public, the artist will be challenged to find innovative ways for expanding public accessibility to the artwork and artwork concepts. Possible solutions could include: creating a satellite artwork component which could physically leave the site or be located at an alternate public space; strategizing ways for networking to other Austin Energy sites; or exploring outreach through virtual or digital means. All artwork components must be linked by a connecting idea which may explore timely themes of energy usage and sustainability. Deadline: November 17, 2008. Art Rocks!
The Athens Area Arts Council of Athens, Georgia, in partnership with the Athens Transit System and the Unified Government of Athens Clarke County, announces its second Art Bus Shelter Design Competition. This year's theme, Art Rocks! asks designers to pay artistic tribute to the musical talent of Athens. Eight bus shelters will be installed along two major arteries near downtown Athens. Winning designs will receive an award of $5,000 per shelter. Bus shelter fabrication, materials and shipping budget limited to $9,160 per shelter. This is a nationwide competition open to all artists, architects, students and designers. Deadline for submissions is December 12, 2008 (extended from November 30). 2009 CVG Show

The United Arts Council of Greater Greensboro in partnership with Revolution Mill Studios is making a call to professional artists from the United States to submit qualifications to design, execute, and install a three dimensional artwork at the entrance to Revolution Mill Studios in Greensboro, North Carolina. Norman Roundabout Project - Norman, OK
The Norman Public Arts Board (PAB), on behalf of the Norman Arts Council and the City of Norman, seeks an artist (or team of artists) to create a permanent, public outdoor work of art for the center island of the East Main Street Roundabout. Artists' ShowCase Portfolio Show
Twelve-image portfolios by 15 photographers will be chosen to display their work in The Center for Fine Art Photography's second online and print portfolio show. Their work will be included in the Center's second book publication of Artists’ ShowCase Portfolio. Additionally, their portfolios will be featured on the Center’s web site (www.c4fap.org) from February 1-February 28, 2009 and will remain online for the next two years. The Center is pleased to provide artists with an economical method to have their work reviewed by an international juror, published and exhibited without printing, framing or shipping costs. Theme: Open - There is no theme for this exhibition. Each photographer's group of images will be evaluated as a cohesive body of work, rather than individual images. Deadline: December 3, 2008.
