Jewish Community Center Outdoor Sculpture Garden - Tucson, AZ
The Tucson Jewish Community Center (TJCC) recently established an outdoor Sculpture Garden on its campus with a four-fold purpose in mind: to feature public spaces that celebrate the appreciation of sculpture; to create an atmosphere of tranquility; to promote educational opportunities; and to enhance community fellowship. In addition to the TJCC permanent collection and long-term loans of sculpture, an annual juried sculpture exhibition is designed to present works by local, national and international sculptors. The Atlanta Arts Festival

Capitol Plaza Building - Washington, DC
The NoMa (north of Massachusetts Avenue) Business Improvement District (BID) is seeking an individual artist and/or design team to design, fabricate and install permanent artworks in the public realm space of the newly constructed Capitol Plaza Building. Capitol Plaza is located at 1200 First Street NE, at the corner of 1st Street and M Street NE, just north of the nation's Capitol in Washington D.C. The main goal of this project, NoMa Artscapes: Transforming Public Spaces is to contribute positively to the visual character and texture of NoMa by creating a distinctive and precedent-setting work that enhances the vibrancy of this rapidly developing urban neighborhood. Submission of qualifications are due by 6:00pm EST March 16, 2009. The BID is managing and funding the project with matching funds provided by the D.C. Commission on the Arts and Humanities (DCCAH) Public Art Building Communities Program. DCCAH is supported in part by the National Endowment for the Arts. The Project Selection Committee will consider a wide range of media such as sculpture, mosaic, sidewalk insets, street furniture, planters, landscaping, lighting and painting treatments. Public Works/Water Resources Building - Goodyear, AZ
The City of Goodyear is seeking an artist or artist team to create an artwork for the newly completed Public Works/Water Resources Building. The selected artist will work with community representatives and city staff to research and develop a sculptural work that will take into consideration the natural landscape and the building’s architecture. Artwork will be sited outdoors, near the public entrance, and will demonstrate the beautiful and vital nature of water in the desert. Water, however, does not need to be a component of the project. The project budget includes all project costs including fees, materials, insurance, travel and shipping. Temporary Sculpture Exhibit - Everett, WA
The Snohomish County Art Commission seeks local sculptors to submit digital images of existing free-standing sculptural works to be considered for temporary installation and exhibition in an open air setting on the Snohomish County Plaza in downtown Everett. Artwork must be freestanding and accompanied by its own weighted plinth. Snohomish County views public art as integral to our community’s fabric by improving quality of life, enhancing neighborhood identity, strengthening economic development and tourism, and enriching the spirit and pride of its citizens. Selected artists will receive a stipend of $500. The contract amount will be inclusive of all costs associated with the project including design fees, consultant's fees such as structural engineering or testing, taxes, insurance, materials, fabrication, transportation, and installation, including any site modification required, travel to and from the site, and per diem expenses. Supervisor of Elections Office - Fort Lauderdale, FL
The Broward County Cultural Division's Public Art and Design Program seeks to commission an artist to design and build an iconic exterior landmark artwork adjacent to the Supervisor of Elections Office (SOE). Artist shall design and build an iconic exterior landmark artwork adjacent to the Supervisor of Elections Office in the pedestrian friendly green zone that will be visible from Broward Boulevard. Artwork themes that promote public awareness of voting are encouraged but are not a requirement for consideration. Selected artist shall also participate with the design team to collaborate on integration of artwork to site and other aspects of a streetscape design within the development. Art in the Heart of the City - Ithaca, NY
The Downtown Ithaca Alliance (DIA) is pleased to invite artist applications for its 10th annual outdoor public art exhibition, Art in the Heart of the City. The deadline is April 15, 2009 for 2-5 works to be installed in mid-June, for exhibition June-November, 2009 on and around the famous outdoor Ithaca Commons pedestrian mall. Both experienced and emerging artists are encouraged to apply. Stipend: $750 for 2-5 existing and/or new works, plus in-kind resources. Exhibition Opportunity: Eastern State Penitentiary Historic Site
Eastern State Penitentiary Historic Site seeks proposals for its 2010 tour season and beyond. There are two funding categories: Exhibition, approval providing a budget of up to $7,500 and approval to exhibit at the historic site; and Exhibition Development, providing up to $2,500 with no guarantee of exhibition. The Eastern State Penitentiary Historic Site was once the most famous and expensive prison in the world, but stands today in ruin, a haunting world of crumbling cell blocks and empty guard towers. Known for its grand architecture and strict discipline, this was the world's first true penitentiary, a prison designed to inspire penitence, or true regret, in the hearts of convicts. Its vaulted, sky-lit cells once held many of America s most notorious criminals, including bank robber Willie Sutton and Al Capone. Tours today include the cell blocks, solitary punishment cells, Al Capone's Cell, and Death Row. A critically-acclaimed series of artists installations is free with admission. Light Fantastic
Visual artists in all media, residing in the USA and 18 years of age or older are eligible to submit slides/digital images for consideration for Light Fantastic. Entry fee $30/2 pieces of artwork. The theme of the artwork must be based on the subject of light, in either a physical, emotional, conceptual, cultural or spiritual way. Extinction: Artists Respond
Denver Botanic Gardens is pleased to present the opportunity to submit artworks for consideration for the juried exhibition, Extinction: Artists Respond. The show complements a range of programs addressing evolution and/or extinction accompanying the major outdoor exhibit, Jurassic Gardens: Evolution and Extinction. This Extinction exhibit will display contemporary artist responses to the concepts, problems, and issues raised by the potential or actual demise of species. While the extinction of dinosaurs provides a backdrop for this show, contemporary conversations about climate change and the destruction of habitat also highlight extinction happening in our lifetimes, often leading to feelings of anxiety. Literal or representational interpretations are not required. Juried by Simon Zalkind of Singer Gallery, Mizel Arts & Culture Center, and Ivar Zeile of Plus Gallery, both of Denver. Wyoming Art Show - Wyoming, OH
The 24th annual Wyoming Art Show is one of southwestern Ohio/greater Cincinnati's premiere juried Art Show and Competitions, held the 3rd Sunday in May along the tree-lined streets of historic Wyoming, Ohio. More than 150 regional fine arts exhibitors are selected to participate in our booth sales and competition. Over $3,000 in professionally judged cash awards are presented to the recipients at an artist reception with refreshments at the close of the show. San Juan College Outdoor Learning Center - Farmington, NM
The Art in Public Places Program (AIPP) of New Mexico Arts and the Local Selection Committee (LSC) at San Juan College (SJC) seek an artist or artist team to create a site-specific commission project at the Outdoor Learning Center on the college's main campus in Farmington, New Mexico. Upon completion, the college is expecting to receive Gold LEED certification for the site. Professional artists currently residing in the United States and who are experienced in creating public funded commission projects are invited to submit qualifications to this opportunity. J.L. Sorenson Recreation Center - Salt Lake County, UT
Salt Lake County plans to contract with artists or artist teams to create unique artworks that will be installed at the new J.L. Sorenson Recreation Center, located in Herriman Utah. The project presents an opportunity for a diverse and exciting range of public artworks ranging from monumental exterior sculptures and interior wall treatments, glass art and mobiles. The public art projects have been identified following meetings with the project architects, planners, the Salt Lake County Public Art Office, and representatives from Salt Lake County Parks & Recreation Division. Deadline: March 13, 2009. $220,000.00 has been budgeted for Public Art. The budget has been split to ensure strong public art projects for both interior and exterior locations. $160,000.00 has been designated for outdoor projects and $60,000.00 for indoor projects. Hidden Glen Arts Festival
The Hidden Glen Arts Festival is held outdoors in a tranquil, picturesque lakeside park at beautiful Cedar Creek in Olathe, Kansas, at K-10 Highway and Cedar Creek Parkway, just 20 miles southwest of Kansas City, Missouri in Johnson County, Kansas. Bridge Design Manual - King County, WA
Culture and the King County Department of Transportation are seeking an artist living in Washington or Oregon to work collaboratively with the Bridge Unit to create a Bridge Design Manual describing a kit of parts for application in County-wide short span bridge replacement projects. Short span bridges are those less than 20 feet in length. Bridge components for possible inclusion in the Bridge Design Manual include railings, barriers and lighting. The selected artist will work with the King County Department of Transportation to understand the function and design possibilities of short span bridges. It is not expected that the artist will create the component parts, rather s/he will design parts that can be used in various configurations over many years and on many bridges, resulting in a signature experience within King County's network of roads and bridges. The project budget is $50,000 inclusive of artist residency meeting time, conceptual and schematic level design work, documentation, presentations, and travel. The qualified applicant will have experience working in design team collaborations, preferably for infrastructure and/or bridge projects. Deadline: April 1, 2009.
