Wish You Were Here: Fiber Art Postcards
Tohono Chul Park is seeking submissions for Wish You Were Here: Fiber Art Postcards, its second non-juried exhibit of artist-made postcards open to artists working with fiber-based media. In a similar manner as tourist postcards, fiber art postcards in Wish You Were Here will document real or imagined places, trips, experiences or events in the state of Arizona. Postcards may be constructed using any of a variety of fiber art and surface design techniques such as quilting, weaving, embroidery, and handmade paper. Postcards will be exhibited in Tohono Chul Park's Gallery from September 10-November 16, 2009. Artists living anywhere in the world may participate by creating a postcard and mailing it to the gallery without an envelope. Postcard submissions must be postmarked from July 1 to July 31, 2009. River Market Regional
River Market Regional Exhibition 2009 is an annual juried competition. Anthony Huberman, Chief Curator at The Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis, Missouri will serve as juror. The competition is unrestricted media and subject matter and open to artists living in Nebraska, Iowa, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Kansas, and Missouri. At least $2,000 in prizes will be awarded and an illustrated catalog will be published. The Kansas City Artists Coalition is the region's largest and oldest artist centered organization. Eastern State Penitentiary Historic Site - Philadelphia, PA
Eastern State Penitentiary Historic Site seeks proposals for its 2010 tour season and beyond. There are two funding categories: Exhibition, approval providing a budget of up to $7,500 and approval to exhibit at the historic site; and Exhibition Development, providing up to $2,500 with no guarantee of exhibition. The Eastern State Penitentiary Historic Site was once the most famous and expensive prison in the world, but stands today in ruin, a haunting world of crumbling cell blocks and empty guard towers. Known for its grand architecture and strict discipline, this was the world's first true penitentiary, a prison designed to inspire penitence, or true regret, in the hearts of convicts. Its vaulted, sky-lit cells once held many of America s most notorious criminals, including bank robber Willie Sutton and Al Capone. Tours today include the cell blocks, solitary punishment cells, Al Capone's Cell, and Death Row. A critically-acclaimed series of artists installations is free with admission. Cornerstone Park - Littleton, CO
Proposals are requested from artists interested in creating a site specific public artwork for the South Suburban Parks and Recreation District (SSPRD) Public Art Committee (SSPAC). The SSPRD Public Art Committee is seeking proposals for an art piece to be placed at Cornerstone Park, a 50-acre multi-use recreational park containing a miniature golf course, multi-purpose sports fields, shelters for games and picnics and a skate board ramp. It is heavily used during warm months for sports and large community events such as July 4th fireworks displays. There is a beautiful view of the Rocky Mountains to the west. Deadline: June 5, 2009. Aesthetica Creative Works Competition
Aesthetica is a UK-based arts magazine looking for American entries to the 2009 International Aesthetica Creative Works Competition. The 2008 Competition was a successful springboard for artists' careers around the globe. Burgeoning Californian talent, Jacquelyn Noelle Unpinco, headlined the artwork category of last year's Creative Works Annual and received prize money of £500. The Aesthetica Creative Works Competition seeks entries of Artwork, Photography & Sculpture, and Creative Writing. Three winners will be awarded £500 each. All finalists will be published in the Aesthetica Creative Works Annual, in stores December 2009. Entry to the 2009 Aesthetica Creative Works Competition is £10, This allows you to submit up to 5 images. Closing date to receive Creative Works is August 31, 2009. The Smithtown Township Arts Council is now accepting entries for In Full Bloom, July 18-August 14, 2009. Seeking original artwork (realistic or representational) in any two-dimensional medium that reflects the beauty and uniqueness of flowers, such as oil, acrylic, watercolor, botanical illustration, colored pencil or pastel. Burr Ridge Art on the Green
Approximately 100 artists will exhibit at the 2009 Burr Ridge Art on the Green, to be held September 12-13, 2009, along the streets of the new Burr Ridge Village Center. Show hours are 10:00am-5:00pm on Saturday and Sunday. In addition to the unique visual arts exhibition, the festival will feature live performing art ensembles on stage. This inaugural show is designed to be an upscale weekend that creates a tradition in the rapidly growing Burr Ridge community and throughout the Chicago suburbs. Deadline: July 15, 2009. Keim Hall - University of Nebraska-Lincoln
The UNL Keim Hall Project: The University of Nebraska-Lincoln and Nebraska Arts Council announce the latest 1% for Art project for the Keim Hall building, located on the UNL East Campus. The UNL Keim Hall Project committee is seeking artist RFQ applications for this Nebraska public art project. The selection committee is interested in commissioned work or direct purchase of artwork for the site. Interested artists may apply for either one or both of these options. Details on how to apply are included in the prospectus. There is no specified theme for this project, however both the building construction (LEED-certified) and the academic programs to be held within the facility are concerned with green, sustainable concepts. The selection committee encourages artists to explore these ideas in the construction and theme of their work. RFQ Application deadline: May 18, 2009. Budget: $117,900. Zingology
Zingology is now accepting submissions for its next issue in poetry, fiction, art, and photography. Submissions for Summer 2009 Issue are due May 15, 2009. The theme is Building Bridges and Zingology seeks your interpretation. Ruby Plaza in Lakefront Park - Kissimmee, FL
The City of Kissimmee Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) seeks to hire an artist/artist team to design and create an entrance/water feature for Ruby Plaza in Lakefront Park, a twenty-five acre park on Lake Tohopekaliga in the City of Kissimmee. Ruby Plaza will be the focal point of a proposed $25 million park renovation project. The public art should create a compelling entrance to the park that "connects" the City's historic waterfront to its downtown. There is opportunity within this site to weave together Kissimmee's past, present and future. The public art goals for Ruby Plaza: Be highly visible from downtown and throughout the park; Celebrate Kissimmee's rich history and culture; Acknowledge the historic relationship between the City and its waterfront; Attract visitors to the park; Create an exciting, comfortable and enjoyable place to sit, walk, people-watch, eat and socialize; and Durability with as minimal maintenance requirements as possible. aLIVe: a Low-Impact Vehicle exhibition
aLIVe: A Low-Impact Vehicle Exhibition seeks artists, architects, landscape architects, engineers, inventors and designers of all types to create visions for the future. Areas of exploration include vehicles designed around the human body; streets designed for people; and communities built around the need for trees and unpaved spaces, clean air and clean water. Exhibition Proposals - Sumter County Gallery of Art
The Sumter County Gallery of Art (SCGA) is now accepting exhibition proposals for its 2010 exhibition schedule. SCGA is an innovative non-profit art institution that features leading-edge exhibitions and public programs showcasing new perspectives in traditional and contemporary art that pushes boundaries in its treatment of materials and subject matter. Located in stunning galleries within Sumter's landmark Cultural Center, in a newly renovated state of the art facility adjacent to Patriot Hall, SCGA presents work in a range of media by influential national and international artists as well as local and emerging artists. The gallery will accept proposals from emerging and established artists residing in the continental United States for group and solo exhibitions. All media will be considered. Fine Art Photography Show - Documentary
The Center for Fine Art Photography announces Documentary, a fine art photography show in its main gallery. Documentary photography has the power to tell stories untold, create social change, awaken emotions, and show the intimate and unseen. This exhibition will feature the artistic viewpoint of the documentary photographer. The exhibition is open to photographers world wide, both amateur and professional. Changing Landscapes: A Dialogue Between Art and the Environment
A Studio in the Woods Announces Changing Landscapes: A Dialogue Between Art and the Environment, Four Funded 6-Week Artist Residencies. These environmental residencies are based on the premise that Southern Louisiana can be seen as a microcosm of the global environment, manifesting both the challenges and possibilities inherent in human interaction with the natural world. Artists are asked to describe in detail how the region will affect their work, to propose a public component to their residency and to suggest ways in which they will engage with the local community. The call is open to artists of all disciplines who have demonstrated an established dialogue with environmental issues and a commitment to seeking and plowing new ground. Four six-week residencies which include a $3000 stipend and $1000 supply budget are to be offered between September 2009 and April 2010. Submissions must be postmarked by June 19, 2009. Art Jewelry Forum Emerging Artist Award 2009
The purpose of the Art Jewelry Forum's (AJF) Emerging Artist Award (EAA) is to acknowledge promise, innovation, and individuality in the work of emerging jewelry artists and to advance the career of a promising artist. The $5,000 award consists of a $4,000 award and $1,000 for travel to attend SOFA Chicago (International Exposition of Sculpture Objects and Functional Art), where the award presentation will be made November 6-8, 2009. Outdoor Artwork - Bainbridge Island, WA

Yorkfest Arts Festival 2009
YorkFest Arts Festival takes place in downtown York, Pennsylvania on August 29-30, 2009 along the Heritage Rail Trail County Park. Participation is limited to 100 exhibitors chosen by an independent panel of talented, high quality 2-D and 3-D artists. All 2009 participants will be chosen by jury with the exception of exempted members from the festival's past two shows. All work must be of original design and produced under the supervision of the creator within the past two years. Artists may show work only in categories approved by slide jury. Decisions of jurors are final. Fine art work and fine craft work in the following media are acceptable: painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking, photography, mixed media, clay, glass, fiber, wood, metal, paper, and jewelry.
