Artquest 2010 - Marco Island, FL
The Marco Island Foundation is currently seeking sculptures for a long-term outdoor exhibition called ArtQuest 2010. The third biennial Artquest is in response to an increasing need for quality arts events, and is being held in cooperation with the business community. Artquest will install the sculptures, promote the artist through extensive advertising and website exposure, and handle any transactions concerning the sale of the artwork. The William H. Johnson Prize
The William H. Johnson Foundation for the Arts is a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization that seeks to encourage African American artists early in their careers through its annual award, The William H. Landmark Challenge Grants - King County, WA
4Culture's Landmark Challenge Grants provide strategic assistance countywide for "bricks and mortar" projects involving highly significant, designated historic properties. City of Seattle landmarks, City of Bothell landmarks, King County and its interlocal city landmarks, and National Register sites in areas without a local landmarks ordinance are eligible to apply. The goals of the program are to address critical physical needs, to spur momentum toward achievable preservation goals, and to visibly demonstrate the value of historic preservation to the community. 4Culture, Landmark Challenge Grants require a one-to-one cash match and offer a minimum grant award of $5,000 (with a minimum project budget of $10,000). Grants will be reimbursed at 50% of documented expenditure. All recipients of Landmark Challenge Grants will contract with 4Culture for the purchase of services. Outdoor Art - SCFD Rex Morgan Tribute
SCFD is pleased to announce a Request for Proposals entitled, Outdoor Art - SCFD Rex Morgan Tribute. This RFP invites proposals from Colorado artists for a significant commission of an original work of outdoor art to honor citizens of the SCFD, Rex Morgan, a founder of SCFD and the persons annually awarded the Rex Morgan Citizen Volunteer Award. The completed art will be installed on the Galleria at Denver Performing Arts Complex. Deadline for submitting proposals is September 1, 2009. The Smithtown Township Arts Council (STAC) is seeking works ranging from the macabre to whimsical for Halloween Midnight Oils, to be held October 9-November 1, 2009. Juror Alain Khadem is interested in works that portray frightening subject matters in a philosophic, romantic, or humorous light. He is also considering works that embody literal, figurative or metaphorical interpretations of the idiomatic expression "the devil is in the details." Open to all media. Hyde Park Village Art Fair
This popular event is held in the trendy downtown area of Hyde Park Village in Downtown Tampa, Florida. Nestled among the trim green lawns and spacious homes of historic Hyde, the Village offers visitors a unique experience. APAture 2009: A Spotlight on Asian Pacific American Art
Kearny Street Workshop presents APAture 2009: A Spotlight on Asian Pacific American Art. Kearny Street Workshop's APAture is a multidisciplinary arts festival presenting and examining the work of emerging Asian Pacific American artists living or working in the San Francisco Bay Area. Turnpike Law Enforcement Building - Lake Worth, FL
The Turnpike Law Enforcement Building is in the West Palm Beach Service Plaza, located in the SE corner of Palm Beach County in the community of Lake Worth. It is one of eight service plazas on the Turnpike Mainline which provide nighttime, armed security. The plazas are open 24-hours a day and offer a variety of fast food dining options, gift shops, ATMs, Florida Lottery, public telephones, internet access, 24-hour news broadcasts, travel information, attraction tickets, picnic areas, dog walks, and other amenities. The project's Art Selection Committee has identified two sites for which they will acquire artwork and two more sites for which they might acquire artwork. Site 1: Large wall on the right in the entry vestibule, approximately 17' wide, appropriate for a single large artwork or a series of multiple artworks. Site 2: Smaller wall to the left of the elevator in the main lobby, approximately 7' wide, can be seen from the entry doors through the second set of glass doors. Sites 3 & 4: Left wall of entry vestibule & left wall of main elevator lobby. Artwork might also be selected for these sites, depending on the project budget. Because of the limited budget, the Committee would like to purchase existing artwork but are also open to commissioned work. Selected artwork must arrive ready-to-hang and prices must include shipping or delivery. The theme or subject of the artwork is open but a Florida connection is desired. They do not want images of patrol cars or law enforcement. The budget is $11,687 all inclusive. Deadline: August 21, 2009. Public Art Program - Village of Algonquin, IL
The Village of Algonquin, Illinois is organizing a display plan for the fifth year of its award-winning public art program. Over two dozen works will be sited in indoor and outdoor locations throughout the community for up to one year. The program is soliciting the temporary loan of paintings, drawings, murals, fiber works, mosaics, and especially outdoor sculptures. Artists interested in submitting an artwork for display consideration must complete and submit an application packet by August 7, 2009. Twining Humber Award for Lifetime Artistic Achievement - WA
The Twining Humber Award offers a $10,000 award annually to a female visual artist over the age of 60 from Washington State. Eligible artists must be nominated and a selection panel of artists and arts professionals will select the recipients. To be eligible for consideration, nominees must be a Washington State resident, female, age 60 or older, and have a minimum 25-year record of creating art. Santo Foundation Individual Artists Grants
The Santo Foundation is offering two $2,500.00 individual visual artist grants in any area of expression. The juror is Paul Ha, Director of the Contemporary Art Museum, St. Louis. To apply, upload 10 jegs, and a current CV. All national and international candidates are eligible as well as undergraduates, MA and MFA candidates, emerging artists and mid-career artists. A nominal non-refundable application fee of $25.00 is required for each application. An applicant who works in a variety of areas may apply more than once. Video/Performance art may be submitted with 10 pegs of still images but they will also need to mail a DVD (three minutes max length) to The Santo Foundation, 5832 Macklind Ave, St. Louis, MO 63109. Women In Film.Dallas
Every year, Women In Film.Dallas (WIF.D) offers two scholarships to female college students and applicants studying film, television, or video production in the North Texas region. WIF.D has increased the college student tuition scholarship from $1,500 to $2,500 and the college student project grant from $3,500 to now $5,000. Providing financial assistance through these scholarships has been a primary goal and mission of WIF.D for years and WIF.D encourages all North Texas graduate or undergraduate women majoring in film, television, or video to apply. New Media, No Boundaries
VisArts at Rockville (an innovative art center in the Washington DC Metropolitan Region) is seeking works of art that use new media and technology to eliminate psychological or physical boundaries and challenge a gallery's role as mediator between artworks and viewers. New media and technology have the power to eliminate conventional artistic boundaries. Interactive art, for example, encourages viewers to complete the artwork by actively transforming it visually and conceptually. Artwork can be exhibited remotely, with only the concept (rather than the physical object) in a gallery. Likewise, a viewer may experience a work of art even if they are not in the gallery with the object. Works considered: Artwork with at least one component that uses an electrical and/or battery power source, and created in the past three years. Chickasaw Heritage Park - Memphis, TN
Chickasaw Heritage Park will be home to a new walking trail, courtesy of the Riverfront Development Corporation (RDC). UrbanArt is seeking an artist to create an enhancement that will reflect the rich history of the area. The enhancement should feel like an integral part of the park, expressing the quiet, safe environment that residents of the nearby French Fort and visitors to the adjacent the National Ornamental Metal Museum use to relax and view the Mississippi River. Minnesota Film and Video Program
The Jerome Foundation operates a production grant program for individual film and video artists. This program serves artists who work in the genres of experimental, narrative, animation and documentary production. It does not support installation, new media or interactive work, which are subsidized in other Foundation programs. It also does not support commercial, industrial, informational or educational work. Approximately $90,000 is available for grants in 2009. Deadline: July 31, 2009. This program awards production grants to emerging artists whose work shows promise of excellence. The term "emerging" refers to career development and level of recognition. Collaborative projects in which creative control is shared are also eligible. 39th Creativity Annual Awards
Ad agencies, publishers, graphic designers, photographers, freelance designers, illustrators, producers, directors, web designers and corporate art departments may submit original design or art pieces created between June 1, 2008 and May 31, 2009 (void where prohibited). Entries are received from firms of all sizes and specialties, in the United States and nearly everywhere else! Last year's competition brought in entries from 44 different countries and 45 US states. From MTV and AKQA to independent designers and photographers, entries are received from a diverse group with everyone winning their fair share of trophies. Student work must have been created during the 2008-2009 school year. Instructors and professors may submit work on behalf of a student. Student work will be evaluated separately from professional work. Anyone involved with the creation of the advertisement or design work may submit the entry. Entry fees are $55-$75 USD, Students receive $30 discount per entry. Entries must be received by midnight EDT August. 7, 2009 to avoid late fees. Art Beat
For one day each September, the streets and sidewalks of downtown South Bend, Indiana become a living gallery as artists, dancers, musicians, actors, poets and culinary artists display their talents for the community. Art Beat represents an opportunity for artists, merchants and community to meet in an atmosphere of celebration and camaraderie to enjoy richly diverse performances, displays and retail experiences. The purpose of Art Beat is to showcase the variety of artists and artisans in South Bend and its surrounding communities, while creating an awareness and appreciation of the role downtown organizations and businesses play in the artisans' promotion and success. Several venues, clustered in the city's downtown district, serve as "scenes," each of which has continuous displays or performances during the course of the evening. The Boston Biennial 2009
Inaugural juried exhibition of contemporary art presented by The Biennial Project, August 2009. The theme of The Boston Biennial is..biennials...and all the aspiration and greed, sublime insight and cheap self-aggrandizement, profundity and narcissism that biennials have come to represent. If you've ever looked with envy at the burgeoning biennial activity around you, attended a venerable Biennale and said to yourself "I can do better than that," or have no idea what a biennial is and just want to show your stuff to the world, this bi's for you! At last, the Greater East Boston's arts community shows what it's made of to the wider world! Open to all artists over 18 years of age. Open to all media, including 2-D, 3-D, sculpture, photography, mixed media, crafts, experimental works, and art from a kit. All works must be "original" and have been completed within the last five years. All entries will be juried from actual work dropped off at the Atlantic Works Gallery, top floor, 80 Border Street, East Boston, MA between July 31 and August 1, 2009 from 2:00-7:00pm.
