Artist & Writer Residency - Santa Fe Art Institute
The Santa Fe Art Institute (SFAI) conducts a bi-annual competitive selection process for one- to three-month artist and writer residencies that focus on the professional experience of the artist, the quality of their past work, and their potential to have a productive residency at SFAI. The selection committees are comprised of successful artists, gallery owners, art instructors, writers, and other arts professionals from our region. SFAI supports over 50 residents per year and offers a cohesive, arts-focused environment that creates the ideal working conditions for resident artists. Residents are housed in handsomely appointed rooms with private baths and are provided with beautiful, well-lit studio spaces, allowing them to pursue creative projects without interruption. The overall physical layout of the residency space encourages daily interaction and fosters communication among residents from all over the world. Manayunk EcoArts Festival
The First Annual Manayunk EcoArts Festival in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania invites you to participate in a "green" celebration of artistic, sustainable and local initiatives. Over the course of two days, artists, regional green businesses, and ecologically concerned community groups will expose you to a creative and educational experience. Join the Manayunk EcoArts Festival in learning how to live a healthy and earth friendly lifestyle. The EcoArts festival is the natural expansion of the successful 21-year-old Manayunk Arts festival. Bell Tower at Civic Center - Scottsdale, AZ
The Scottsdale Public Art Program seeks artists or artist teams to create a temporary public artwork for the Bell Tower at Civic Center Mall as part of an ongoing series of installations called Belle Art. The ideal artwork is one which is an unexpected and delightful encounter for visitors to the site. Both 2-D and 3-D artworks will be considered in addition to combinations of the two. It is an ideal opportunity for either an emerging or experienced artist who would like to further develop a piece that can engage a variety of audiences as well as add to the arts experience and complement the sense of place of the civic center. City of Seattle - Civic Square Fencing
The Seattle Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs, in partnership with the Department of Finance and Administrative Services and Triad Development, seeks up to eight emerging artists to develop temporary large-scale, colorful panels from existing artwork in any two-dimensional medium. The panels will be attached to the fence surrounding the Civic Square construction site between Third and Fourth avenues and Cherry and James streets in downtown Seattle for approximately one year. The panels are intended to celebrate Seattle's vibrancy, cultural life, history and position in the forefront of environmental sustainability. A selection panel will choose up to six images per selected artist. This opportunity is open to emerging professional artists living within 100 miles of Seattle. An emerging artist is considered to be an artist in the early stage of his or her career (five years or less). The application deadline is 11:00pm Pacific Daylight Time, June 21, 2010. The SXSW Film Festival
The SXSW Film Festival is now accepting entries for the 17th Annual Film Festival to be held March 12-20, 2010 in Austin, Texas. SXSW is proud to be an official qualifying festival for the Academy Awards Short Film competition. The Best Animated and Best Narrative Short Film winners become eligible for the Academy Awards. Films screen in the following categories: Narrative Feature, Documentary Feature, Narrative Short, Documentary Short, Animated Short, Experimental Short, and Music Video. You decide which category is appropriate for your film, keeping in mind that to qualify as a short, your film must be 40 minutes or less; and experimental shorts are those without a narrative thread. SXSW Film does not accept trailers or works-in-progress. We do accept rough cuts (picture lock w/ temp sound, color, etc), but we cannot guarantee we'll have time to view a finished product. Arts in Transit - St. Louis, MO
Metro Arts in Transit (AIT) is commissioning seven new public artworks for seven stations that were constructed during the first phase of MetroLink. These stations are: Arch-Lacledes Landing, Stadium, Union Station, Central West End, Wellston, UM-St. Louis South, and Lambert Airport Main stations. Selected artists will be placed under contract to develop designs for their respective station opportunity. The opportunities for artwork vary from a two-dimensional tile mural, to free-standing sculpture, to possible multidisciplinary artwork. Deadline: June 18, 2010. The Midtown Festival of the Arts
The Midtown Festival of the Arts is a two-day festival showcasing fine visual arts on Peachtree Street in the Midtown Mile district, where 30,000 art-savvy residents live within easy walking distance of the Festival area. Our panel of respected jurors will select up to 105 outstanding artists to participate in this inaugural event. A broad array of media are eligible, including painting, photography, sculpture, jewelry, fiber, ceramics, leather, metal, mixed media, drawing/graphics/printmaking, woodworking, and folk/outsider art. Eastern Market Plaza - Lancaster, PA
Tabor Community Services, Inc, with the assistance of the City of Lancaster, wishes to commission an artist or artist team to create original site specific artwork for a new urban plaza. Construction of the plaza is projected to begin in summer 2010 and be completed in early autumn, 2010. The selected artist will work closely with landscape architects and contractors to determine an art installation schedule. Tabor Community Services, Inc. envisions artwork that will be welcoming, enliven the plaza, speak to the organization's mission and allows for multiple uses of the space. This call is open to professional artists residing in Pennsylvania with experience in the design, fabrication and installation of public work. Deadline: Friday, June 11, 2010. American Landscapes
The Maryland Federation of Art (MFA) invites all artists residing in the United States to enter its 10th annual American Landscapes exhibition. Any original two- or three-dimensional submissions depicting the American landscape and following exhibition guidelines will be considered by the juror. The selected works will be exhibited in the MFA's Circle Gallery, 18 State Circle, Annapolis, Maryland from August 20 through September 19, 2010. Deadline: June 10, 2010. Seoul International Design Competition
Seoul Design Fair 2010 is collaborating with designboom to hold an international design competition. The competition is calling for entries from design professionals, students, and design enthusiasts from around the world. The theme for the 2010 edition is "design for all - future technology and daily living." The "design for all" concept has been chosen with the objective of inspiring designers to increasingly pursue design production that can be shared by all, removing emotional and physical barriers by becoming a universal communicative social solution. There are three categories in which designers may submit entries: "product for all," "communication for all" and "space for all." Submissions will be assessed by a panel of international professional designers. All projects submitted should be original and not be currently in serial production. No entry fee. Ridge View Community School - Dexter, ME
The Maine Arts Commission is making a call to all artists living in the United States, with a preference for Maine artists, to submit proposals to design, create and install artwork at the Ridge View Community School Percent for Art site in Dexter, Maine. Total project budget is $50,000. The submission deadline is June 14, 2010. The Percent for Art law in Maine reserves one percent of the construction funds for all state-funded building projects to provide art work for the public areas of these buildings and/or their exterior renovations and additions. Times Square Alliance Public Art Program
The Times Square Alliance seeks letters of interest from arts organizations and artists across disciplines to present contemporary art projects and art events in the public spaces in and around Times Square. In a one-page letter, applicants can propose a single project or series for anytime between September 2010 and December 2012. Artists and arts organizations are encouraged to propose projects that address the unique nature and rich history of Times Square. Projects should be able to have an impact in a space defined by dynamic activity and continuous, competing visual stimuli. Organizations, curators and artists are encouraged to consider how their projects will change or affect the space during the presentation and how the 350,000 people here every day (as well millions of virtual viewers) will interact with the presentation. Public spaces to consider as locations for art projects and events include the new Broadway plazas and Duffy Square in Times Square and other public and private spaces throughout the Theater District, 42nd Street and 8th Avenue. Through its Public Art Program, the Times Square Alliance brings temporary high-quality, cutting edge art and performance to Times Square's public spaces, so that it is known globally as a place where ordinary people encounter authentic, ever-changing urban art in multiple forms and media. Barrio la Canada Neighborhood Gateway- Santa Fe, NM
The City of Santa Fe Arts Commission, in partnership with Public Works Department and the Barrio la Canada neighborhood, announces a call to artists for a site-specific, outdoor artwork to enhance the existing entryway of the Barrio la Canada neighborhood in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The budget for the project is $45,000, inclusive of all expenses. Funding for the project is provided by the City's 2% for Public Art program. All professional artists with moderate past public art experience residing in New Mexico are eligible to apply by responding to the request for qualifications. The deadline for proposals is Friday, July 30, 2010 at 5:00pm. Interested artist must download a copy of the qualification packet from the Arts Commission's website, www.SantaFeArtsCommission.org, within the "Public Art" section.

International Donkey Art Prize
Blindonkey cultural association, a non-profit organization located in Verona (Italy), is proud to announce the opening of the International Donkey Art Prize. The art competition is open to every artist without limits of age, sex or nationality. The aim of the competition is to promote modern and contemporary art all over the world, to discover emerging artists and organize international artistic and cultural events. The competition is divided into three sections: Painting, Digital art and Photography. For each category, the winner will be awarded a 5000 Euro cash prize. All finalists will be invited to join a series of four events in the four cities of the DonkeyArtPrize circuit, Milan, London, New York and Tokyo, sending their own work; every event will run in conjunction with fashion shows, musical performances and parties. Family Health Technology Building - Ogden, UT
The Utah Public Art Program and the Ogden Weber Applied Technology College (OWATC) announce a call for letters of interest and qualifications from artists or artist teams interested in creating art for the new Samuel H. and Marian K. Barker Family Health Technology Building on the main campus in Ogden, Utah. The community based Art Selection Committee envisions "artwork that recognizes the OWATC's diversity in career choices, services, gender, race, and cultures. The theme of the Barker Family Health Technology Building project: Assuring a Future of Qualified and Compassionate Caregivers, is an indication of the need for artwork to reflect the purpose of the facility and the hope it engenders for the community - a place where those who will care for you and your loved ones will receive the highest quality of training tempered with a compassionate heart. Art Beat 2010
For one day each September, the streets and sidewalks of downtown South Bend, Indiana become a living gallery as artists, dancers, musicians, actors, poets and culinary artists display their talents for the community. Art Beat represents an opportunity for artists, merchants and community to meet in an atmosphere of celebration and camaraderie to enjoy richly diverse performances, displays and retail experiences. Art Beat 2010 will be held on August 28th from 11:00am to 6:00pm, primarily along Michigan Street in the heart of downtown South Bend. Art Beat "Scenes" or areas of concentrated activity (performances & vendors) will be located throughout downtown. Deadline: July 2, 2010. The Film Festival Grant Program
The Film Festival Grant Program has awarded just under $4 million to film festivals since 1999. Grants totaling $450,000 were granted to 24 U.S. film festivals in 2009. While the grants are awarded for a variety of programs, film festivals are encouraged to submit proposals that make festival events more accessible to the general public, provide greater access to minority and less visible filmmakers, and help strengthen the connection between the filmmaker and the public. The 2010 Film Festival Grants application is now available. Please note, application materials may only be submitted via e-mail to FilmFestivalGrants@oscars.org. Vermont Studio Center Fellowships
The Vermont Studio Center (VSC) awards a number of fellowships for 4-week residencies throughout the year. Open to all artists and writers. New Art in Austin
The Austin Museum of Art (AMOA) is accepting artists' submissions for the exhibition New Art in Austin. The fourth in a triennial showcase, "New Art in Austin" introduces emerging and lesser-known artists from Central Texas whose work stretches the boundaries of contemporary art. Eligible artists must live within fifty miles of the Capitol at the time of the application and exhibition. They must not have had a solo show in a major mainstream exhibition venue in the area.
